My favourite London ladies, which one are you? I

Brixton, Kings Cross, Islington, Soho, Camden, Shoreditch, Outer London...

A city has many things to offer a girl, something different for whichever persona you are adopting that day...what if one could divide a city into the different woman within us all? Which one are you? You might not go to an area and consciously think that you are channelling a mood that is similar to that area. The area you work in, live in or just go to on your days off might tell you something about who you are that day.

Brixton has a sense of freedom and liberation from the rest of London. All areas have their own personality as I will be showing you, but Brixton dances to its own beat. To many people Brixton is a midnight playground; you would get off the tube and take a right to the sleazy ‘Weatherspoon’ to have one or two pre-party pints while everyone catches up and get’s the night going.

Ready, set and off to the Academy, queuing around the block to get searched before you get to listen to hours of pounding beats. Here you lose yourself and think of nothing but having fun for the entire evening.  Brixton Academy is swiftly followed by ‘Plan B or Brixton Electric’ and then Mc Donald’s or an onion hotdog.

If you are more of a day time Brixton visitor then turn left and left again before the Ritzy Cinema. Head down Coldharbour lane into Brixton’s market to find the best independent delis, cafes  and freshest ingredients from around the world. Rosie’s will offer you freshly made sandwiches, cakes, ingredients and delicious coffee.rosielovell.co.uk/ There are so many new and unique restaurants such as Bukowski Charcoal grill and Yum-D(Thai) that have opened here since I last visited the area.
Strolling further down Coldharbour Lane before you go under the bridge look left and you will see Brixton Wholefoods.  You walk in and it smells of all the health food, you can get your wheat free products and so much more. My favourite are the spice and herb shelves, they are filled with large jars of every option you can imagine. You just spoon the amount you want onto a scale, write the price and take you bag to the till. It is great value and you get a feel of the old markets a complete difference from the pre packaged un-unique product we used to in super markets. You never know what you will find around the next corne.

Two years ago the Brixton Village was developed to encourage new business’s to open there door’s. This area is readily visited by many tourists and the local London tribe. There are so many fresh ideas here, no frills eateries with amazing well priced food, boutique’s, coffee shops and even temporary art installations. The choices here are endless, Etta’s Seafood has the freshest calamari and you get that real eating at home feel; The Agile Rabbit does delicious pizza and there are a bunch of coffee shops to choose from.

With its bustling vibe and Jamaican influences this area is truly individual and once you get into life there you might even stay for years. Artists did not write songs about it for nothing....
